En rudimentär översikt över litteraturen kring den fria viljans problem
Under det senaste decenniet har litteraturen kring den fria viljans problem svämmat över, vilket kan studeras på Amazon. I det här inlägget ska jag lista de viktigaste, både nya och gamla böcker.
De som tänkt mest och skrivit mest kring frågan om den fria viljan är två nulevande filosofiprofessorer, som höjer sig långt över de andra. Dessa är Robert Kane (f. 1938) och Derk Pereboom (f. 1957). Båda har skrivit fyra och redigerat två böcker, var för sig, om den fria viljan. De är (till min häpnad när det gäller Derk) båda religionsfilosofer och kristna, dock av en liberal sort. Robert Kane förespråkar libertariansk fri vilja, och Derk Pereboom är fri vilja-skeptiker, av den inkompatibilistiska sorten. Filosofiprofessor Bruce Waller (f. 1946) är också en viktig samtida figur, som skrivit fem böcker i ämnet och redigerat en antologi, dock är han inte lika känd som de två övriga (han förnekar också den fria viljan. Verkar inte särskilt religiös).
Sedan finns det en uppsjö böcker, skrivna av en mängd olika professionella. Jag tar med de viktigaste engelskpråkiga här, nästan alla finns på Amazons virtuella bokhandel. De som främst skrivit (jag ska först räkna upp böcker som förnekar den fria viljan) om det är filosoferna. Jag börjar med de äldre inläggen från kyrkohistorien i debatten:
